Partner Spotlight - Fresh For Florida Kids

fresh for florida kids resizedIn a world where childhood obesity has become an epidemic there’s a need now more than ever to instill in children, healthy eating habits. While people may be able to change their eating habits later in life, a little known fact is that eating habits are developed from the time a child starts to eat solid foods. Fresh for Florida Kids is on a mission to teach not only children but also families of Florida healthy eating habits and lifestyles that will last a lifetime.

Since eating habits are essentially “locked in” by the time a child reaches the age of three, Fresh for Florida Kids has developed an easy three phase system to healthy eating for both children and families. Each phase focuses on an age in a child’s life between one and three. Parents can learn anything from how to make nutritious home-made baby foods, developing healthy tastes in your child as they graduate to finger foods, and finally teaching parents to set healthy examples for their children. Parents can find comprehensive guides and everything they need to know at freshfromflorida.com.

Children’s Week is proud to partner with Fresh for Florida Kids and supports their mission in promoting health, not only for the children of Florida, but their families as well.

Partner Spotlight - Florida After School Alliance

FASAIt’s a fact that in this day and age children spend almost as much time in after school programs as they do in actual school. With so many single parents, or children with both parents in the work force it’s becoming commonplace to have many children in after school programs. The Florida After School Alliance is a voice for quality in school programs and the people that lead them. FASA works both nationally and locally, pushing for standards and accreditation for after school programs. This advocacy helps to educate the public and elected officials about the benefits of quality after school programs and the vital contribution after school professionals make to families. Not only is FASA devoted to promoting the welfare of Florida after school programs, but to the development and education of the professionals who run these programs. To produce the best possible after school professionals FASA provides training, advocacy and networking opportunities for professionals statewide.

Children’s Week is proud to partner with Florida After School Alliance, and supports their mission to provide Florida children with quality, life enriching after school programs, and the proper training for those that run them.
