The Florida Education Foundation is a not for profit corporation whose mission is to lead in educational enhancements statewide. Seeking the improvement of performance of public school students from prekindergarten through 12th grade the Foundation encourages collaboration among parents, business people, community members and Florida public schools. By fostering and developing community and private sector resources the Foundation is able to promote excellence among prek-12 students. Florida Educational foundation has a hand in several statewide initiatives the likes of Sunshine State Scholars and Principle’s Summit (just to name a couple). They have partnered with companies like Wells Fargo and AT&T to serve as fiscal agents for several statewide grants. The Foundation believes excellence should be recognized not only in students but in teachers as well. Being part of the Macy’s Teacher of the Year award allows the top teachers in Florida to be recognized for all their hard work and success with their students.

Partner Spotlight - WaterVentures

30In 2013, WaterVentures Florida's Learning Lab set out to take the story of Florida's biodiversity, hydrogeology, and watershed stewardship on the road to 4th and 5th grade students all across the Sunshine State. With their 53 foot modified tractor trailer filled with interactive and inquiry based educational exhibits, WaterVentures has proved itself to be a fun, engaging, and educational experience for everyone. We are happy to announce that WaterVentures Florida's Learning Lab is coming back to Children's Week as a Statewide Partner in 2014!

Last year was a great success for WaterVentures. Visiting over 50 schools in Miami-Dade County, joining forces with Mote Marine at the Capitol for Ocean's Day, partnering with United Way of Florida during Children's Week, and spending the weekend with homeschoolers at the Florida Homeschool Convention, just to name a few! Summer 2013 wasn't any different with various summer camps, events, and workshops scheduled every day.

77The WaterVentures team has a highly skilled team of educators who are passionate about spreading the message of Florida's freshwater resources with students of all ages. WaterVentures not only provides experienced educators, but also Pre/Post Exhibit Activities, a Pre/Post Test, as well as supplemental materials to extend the message into the classroom, all which can be found on, The WaterVentures curriculum has been developed by and for teachers and is aligned to the NGSSS and NSF standards for 4th and 5th grade.
