Children’s Day at the Capitol has been a staple in the Children’s Week Florida event for many years. As a vibrant, hands-on, and interactive experience for children of all ages, this special day with state legislators brought hundreds of attendees to the Capitol to visit, interact, and learn. Partners and volunteers distributed materials and informational items to parents, teachers, and advocates, while young minds explored literacy activities and even played a role in classic stories and scenes with their favorite characters brought to life though Storybook Village.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, an in-person event of this magnitude is not feasible. This year, Children’s Day will be celebrated virtually on Whova, our online events platform. Parents, caregivers, teachers, advocates, children, and youth are all invited to participate in a variety of family-friendly activities broadcast every hour, on the hour. Activities include virtual field trips, special guest speakers, a Teen Town Hall and youth-led performances that can be streamed right into the classroom or viewed from home. In addition, all Children’s Week participants will have the opportunity to connect and learn from Children’s Week Florida Partners in their virtual booths throughout the day.
