Congratulations to our 2026 Chiles Advocate Award Winner
Theodore "Ted" Granger
United Way of Florida & Children's Services Council of Leon County (Retired)

Theodore “Ted” Granger received his BA degree from Florida State University in 1978 and later received his Juris Doctor degree from the same esteemed institution. After “hanging his shingle” and engaging in general civil and criminal trial litigation for three years, he was hired by the Florida Senate as a legislative analyst with the Commerce Committee.

In 1986, he joined the Florida Chamber of Commerce as Vice President of Government Relations and, after four years, left to become President of the United Way of Florida, where he served for 29 years.

After retiring from the United Way, Ted was selected by the Children’s Services Council of Leon County to serve as the Interim Administrator, responsible for working with the Council to establish the independent special taxing district and crafting initial Council policies and procedures. Among others, Ted serves on the Children’s Forum Board and co-chairs the One Goal Summer Conference on Children.

Ted and his wife reside in Tallahassee and have two fantastic sons, Colin and Nathan.
